Dyndrite Global Student LPBF Innovation Competition

1. Sponsor
The Dyndrite Global Student LPBF Innovation Competition (“Competition”) is sponsored and administered by Dyndrite, Inc. (“Sponsor”).

The Dyndrite Student Challenge is an industry-sponsored competition designed and administered by Dyndrite. Student presentations are hosted at ICAM as part of its broader technical program. The competition’s design, evaluation, and awards are managed independently by Dyndrite and do not represent ASTM or ICAM positions. This Competition is not administered by ASTM or ICAM.

2. Eligibility
The Competition is open to individuals who meet all of the following criteria at the time of entry:
• Are 18 years of age or older (or the age of majority in their country of residence)
• Are currently enrolled as a student (undergraduate or graduate) at an accredited university, college, or equivalent educational institution. Not open to postdocs.
• Are able to comply with all applicable laws and regulations
• Though the Dyndrite Student Challenge is wholly owned and operated by Dyndrite, a part of the judging criteria includes being accepted to present at ASTM's ICAM 26.

Not eligible:
Employees, officers, directors, contractors, or interns of Dyndrite, and their immediate family members or household members.

The Competition is open globally except where prohibited by USA law.

3. Entry Period
The Competition begins on 03/09/2026, 12:01AM, PST and ends on 04/15/2026, 11:59PM, PST (“Entry Period”). Submissions received after the Entry Period will not be considered.

4. How to Enter
To enter, eligible participants must submit an application and all required materials as outlined in the Student Entry Guidelines (see below). No purchase or payment of any kind is required to enter.

Limit two (2) entries per participant or team.

5. Judging Criteria
Submissions will be evaluated by Dyndrite based on the following criteria:
• Technical innovation and originality
• Application of programmable, algorithmic, or software-driven LPBF concepts
• Manufacturability and technical feasibility
• Quality and clarity of technical explanation
• Innovative use of Dyndrite LPBF Pro

All submissions must also be accepted to present at ASTM’s ICAM.

Judging will be conducted by Dyndrite, and all decisions are final and binding.

6. Prize
Winner(s) will receive up to a USD $10,000 cash award.
• Prize is non-transferable
No substitution or cash equivalent beyond the stated prize
• Winners are solely responsible for any team distribution as needed
• Winners are solely responsible for all applicable taxes, duties, or fees

7. Winner Notification and Announcement
The winner will be notified directly and publicly announced at ASTM ICAM 26 and/or via Dyndrite communications.

To be considered for the award, shortlisted entrants must be present at ICAM 26 to be considered for the final award.
Winners may be required to complete:
• Proof of eligibilityTax documentation (e.g., W-9 or W-8BEN)
• Affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release
• Any required approval from participant’s educational institution (if applicable)
• Failure to complete required documentation may result in forfeiture.

8. Intellectual Property
Participants retain ownership of their submissions.
By entering, participants grant Dyndrite a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, display, reproduce, and reference submitted materials for evaluation, marketing, educational, and promotional purposes related to the Competition.

9. Publicity
Except where prohibited by law, winners agree Dyndrite may use their name, institution, submission summary, and likeness for promotional purposes without additional compensation.

10. Compliance and Disqualification
Submissions:
• Must follow all USA export control regulations
• Must not contain restricted or controlled technical dataMust not Infringe third-party intellectual property
• Must abide by Dyndrite’s Privacy and EULA termsSponsor reserves the right to disqualify any submission at its discretion.

11. Limitation of Liability
Dyndrite is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, corrupted, or misdirected entries, or technical failures of any kind.

12. Governing Law
The Competition shall be interpreted according to the laws of the State of California without regard to or application of choice-of-law rules or principles.

STUDENT-FACING ENTRY GUIDELINES

Dyndrite Global Student LPBF Innovation Competition

What You’ll Do
Participants will submit an innovative LPBF technical concept, study, or design that is demonstrated using Dyndrite LPBF Pro AM software.

Submission Requirements

Each submission should include:

1. Technical Description & Deliverables
• Problem or limitation being addressed
• Proposed approach or concept
• Why it matters for LPBF
• Description of results and summary discussion of findings
• Accompanying Python code

2. Use of Programmable AM Concepts
• Examples may include:
• Algorithmic or rule-based toolpath logic
• Feature-specific strategies
• Software-driven process variation
• Integration with third-party software (i.e Simulation) 

3. Supporting Materials (Optional but Encouraged)
Diagrams or illustrations
• Pseudocode or logic flow
• Screenshots or schematics

4. Written Format
PDF document
Recommended length: 5–10 pages
Language: English

What We’re Looking For
Judges will prioritize:
Original thinkingTechnical clarity
Practical relevance to LPBF part development, scalability, support strategies, materials development, etc etc.
Thoughtful use of modern AM software concepts

Judges will prioritize those entries which showcase practical outputs.

Team entries must be explicitly stated
The winner will be announced at ASTM ICAM 26
